Question

Loop prevents me from entering investment income

I'm trying to enter dividends and interests in Turbotax online but it keeps taking me back to a page listing my investments and saying "Add" for each one. When I click on "Add" it keeps taking me back to a download page where if I type in the name of an account, nothing is listed for it. I can't go anywhere from there. I did not have this problem last year. What should I do? There doesn't seem to be anyway to reach a live person at Intuit to help me. I'm wondering whether I have to give up on Intuit and start over with H&R Block.

Yes, you can still enter income that isn't from an import partner.

When you start in the income section, you will see a list of companies that partner with TurboTax to make importing your income easier. If you don't see your payer there, scroll down to the bottom and select Enter a different way.

The next screen will show you additional options like importing a PDF or taking a photo. If none of those works for you, select Type it in myself at the bottom.

Thanks. The steps you said to take were exactly what I did yesterday, and yesterday when I clicked on "Type it in myself" it kept taking me back to the "Let's import your tax info" page that shows all your partners. Whenever I tried again it kept looping back to that page, so I couldn't enter any investment income! However, today when I tried it, it worked; I got a page that allowed me to type the information in. If I have problems again, I'll let you know.

Thanks,

Laurie

Try this.....

Go to Schedule D, Part II:

in my situation i was trying to enter a Coinbase trans that had NO 1099 and was a LT transaction.

Click on Box (F) LT transaction NOT reported to you on Form 1099-B

Go all the way down to an open line and enter Description, Dates, basis, proceeds manually.

To double check....look at Capital gains transaction.

This entry created another Form 8949 (Copy 2) and it shows up there
