Question

Married filing joint return, Turbo Tax used my SSN on form 8938 but the foreign account belongs to my spouse. How do I change SSN on form?

    The name(s) and Social Security Number on the top of the form should match the name(s) and the return and the Social Security Number should be the number of the Primary taxpayer.

     

    It does not matter if the accounts are just in your wife's name. You are reporting the informational amounts on a Joint Return.

     

    When you completed the FBAR reports you designated who was on each of the accounts.
