Maximum HSA contribution in 2025

I have read that the maximum HSA contribution to a family policy is $8550 in 2025.  There is also an optional catch-up option of $1000 for persons over age 55.  Our family health plan covers one parent, age 59, and two dependent adult children.   Am I correct that we can use the catch-up option for a total maximum contribution of $9550 ($8550+$1000)?  This is a personal family policy and not work related.  Thank you.

Yes, but the additional $1,000 for a person over age 55 applies only to the account holder.

Assuming that family HDHP coverage applies to at least December 2025, the parent covered by this HDHP plan can contribute a total of $9,550 to this parent's HSA, provided that this parent has no disqualifying coverage under some other plan.
