I'm using TurboTax desktop version.

I am looking at my Medical Expenses Worksheet.

Line 9a lists medical miles as "552." This is correct.

Line 9b is blank.

Line 9c is supposed to be 9a plus 9b, but instead it says "121."

Is this a glitch in TT? What should I do?

very bad wording on the part of Turbotax 9c should say line 9a times 22 cents per mile + 9b. 121 is correct.

Hi Mike,

Thank you for your prompt reply which I didn't see before I wrote my own reply.

The Medical Expenses Worksheet is an official IRS form, so it is the very bad wording of the IRS rather than TurboTax.

And yes, I did note that I goofed when I said the sum of 9a and 9b times 22 cents. I should have said the (sum of 9a times 22 cents) plus 9b. You got it right!

It has come to my attention that the number on Line 9c refers to 9a times 22 cents. So TT 's figure of 121 is correct. I guess it's a matter of the IRS not making its instructions clear. Line 9c is obviously not the sum of 9a and 9b, but rather that sum times 22 cents.
