In February 2023, I paid car registration fees for a 2yr renewal.
Is the entire amount deductible for 2023 with then nothing claimed in 2024?
Or is half of the amount deductible for 2023 with the remainder carrying over to 2024?
The receipt just indicates that the total registration fee was paid in 2023.
I'm inclined to claim the entire amount for 2023 and then nothing in 2024, unless I get different information.

The total can be deducted on your 2023 return since the fee is based on the value of the car.
