Question

Mortgage interest does not count this year for itemized deductions

Hi,

At the end of Federal Taxes section, I remember I answer a question about points. After that, my mortgage interests were removed from my deduction. Do you know why did it happen? Did I answer the question wrong?

Thanks,

James

How did you answer?  Did you pay points over the life of the loan?  Were there points on the form 1098?  Go back and check your entries.  Once complete, wrap up deductions, and you will get a comparison of your standard deduction and itemized deduction.  Below that graph is a hyperlink to display your itemized deductions.  Compare the mortgage interest to what was entered from the form 1098.

Hi,

It turns out the issue is caused by "Does your mortgage interest need to be limited" option. It is somehow auto-checked.

Thanks,

James
