Mortgage interest . I have already filed, but I forgot to add in the mortgage interest.

Will i have to amend my return if i want to itemize instead of using the standard deduction

Yes, you'll need to amend to claim a mortgage interest deduction.  

But, unless all of your itemized deductions, including mortgage interest, add up to more than your standard deduction, you won't get a tax benefit, and in that case you wouldn't need to amend your return.
