Question

My child didn’t turn 17 until November of last tax year, do I still qualify for the $2000 credit because Turbo Tax app is only giving me $500 for Other Dependent credit?

For the Child Tax Credit?  They have to be under 17 on Dec 31, 2023.  Sorry he's too old.  But you got it for the year he was born even though he wasn't born until Nov.

As your child is 17 at the end of 2023, he no longer qualify for the child tax credit of $2,000, but only for the other Dependent credit 0f $500.

Please read this TurboTax Help article for more information.

Look at it this way: when he was born, in 2007, you got the full child tax credit, even though he was only around a few weeks. So, you got 17 years of the child tax credit, the same as everybody else.
