Question

My dad passed away in November 2023. I completed his estate in 2024. The estate is well below the $13 million in assets required to file a tax return.

I did receive one 1099-DIV for ordinary dividends, in the amount of $491. This particular 1099-DIV has my dad's SSN and not the estate EIN on it. I have seen a number of $600 in income as a tax filing threshold. The interest in 2024 on any accounts in the estate, along with the $491 I have mentioned is below the $600 threshold. I would like to confirm based on the information I have provided that I am ok to not file a return. Thanks!

There is a $600 line to cross before you must file an estate return.
