My daughter, a student, is covered by my family health insurance, Can she claim her own medical expense on her own return?

Yes, but she can only deduct medical insurance if she pays for her own insurance out of pocket  and if she itemizes and her total medical expenses exceed 10% of her adjusted gross income. 

The deduction is limited to the expenses above and beyond this amount.

To deduct medical expenses::

Thank you, Vince. I am the father who paid her insurance premium and expenses, Should she claim it or should I claim it on my joint return with my wife?  Thank you!

If you provided over one half of her financial support in 2016, and you paid for it, you deduct it.

can she deduct her medical expenses on her return? I have a similar situation. Her expenses over over her 10% threshold but are not over mine.
