MY SON IS A VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTER HOW CAN I CLAIM THE CREDIT

State credit?  Which state?  Every state has different rules and different credits.  For instance, in PA , there is a volunteer firefighters credit for the volunteer.  You as a parent cannot claim the credit.  In order to claim the credit he would have had to responded to 20% of calls during the last two years and had been an active volunteer for a full two years. 

 

If other states have the credit, their rules would be different.  There is no federal credit for you to claim.
