My son was 17 until Jan. 31, 2025. I am not receiving the child credit for him for 2024?

The child must be under the age of 17 on 12/31/2024 to be eligible for the child tax credit in 2024.  If they are age 17 or older then they are only eligible for the Other Dependent Credit of $500.

As previously stated - The child must be under the age of 17 on 12/31/2024 to be eligible for the child tax credit in 2024

If the child was 17 at any time in 2024 they are not eligible for the child tax credit.
