My taxes have been rejected the reason stated is the healthcare section. I verified everything was entered from the 1095 A form. Why is the return being rejected?

Here's how you can fix it:

Sign in to your account and select the Fix my return button. Follow any “fix it” instructions to update the information causing the rejection.

Note: Not all rejections will have explicit guides to fix the information. You’ll need to navigate to the program area to address the cause of the rejection.

Time-saving Tip: If what you originally entered is correct, you won't be able to e-file. There's probably a data mismatch at the government, a dependent that's already been claimed, or some other situation beyond your control that prevents your return from being e-filed. In this case, your only option would be to print and mail in your return. This article will give you instruction on how to print and mail your return.

Hi, I was rejected. I saw in the turbotax that "on Febrruary 20 or later, your tax return will include an updated interview question regarding form 1095-a, health insurance marketplace statement. Please pay careful attention if any of your dependents are filing a separate tax return.” How can I resolve it?

I saw the rejection due to potential family income. My son and daughter filed separate returns that were accepted with no taxes due and clearly reflected claimed as dependent on my return. Not seeing where to enter their income onto my form to update. No issue last year.

If your health insurance policy though the government exchange included coverage for individuals that weren't listed on your tax return, you would need to reflect that when entering your form 1095-A information in TurboTax.

You mentioned that you claimed them as a dependent on your tax return though, in which case this wouldn't be an issue.

So I am wondering, are you sure they qualify as your dependent?

You wouldn't have to enter any of their income on your tax return.

Thank you for your response.  I have not had an issue with dependent status as they are full time students , under 26 years old supported financially by us. With all of the data entered on my return for my dependents including name, social security number, date of birth and financial support this would be screened separately early on in the return as opposed to an issue with  form 1095-A. The note I received from turbo tax indicates I will be receiving an updated interview question regarding Form 1095-A that I have not seen. My assumption is this question will ask about my dependents income for 2019 to compute the family income. Both of my dependents have filed successfully via turbo tax electronically with W-2 income as we have in the past with no issues. Also, I've utilized Turbo Tax for 3 years including this year and my history is not showing up when I log in.

For what its worth, I had the same problem.  Going back to the step-by-step section to review the 1095A was useless as all the answers to the questions asked were correct and the final check said everything was fine and ready to file.  I did open the 1095A form directly and found there were a few items not filled in and one social security number that was listed under the wrong name.  I filled in everything directly in the form from my insurers 1095A and re-filed it and it was finally accepted.  Hope this helps.

You have to go healthcare.gov and download the 1095-a. Then login in to turbo tax and add it in the documents section.
