My wife and I both have sleep apnea and need a bipap machine and a cpap machine to sleep I installed a generac generator can I write this off of my taxes

Yes. The cost of special equipment is deductible if the main purpose is medical care. The expenses are deductible in the year paid.

 

IRS Publication 502 regarding medical expenses: See page 6 for a worksheet if the generator is a permanent fixture to your home

Instructions for medical deductions list many deductible expenses to the extent they were not reimbursed.

Medical aids such as eyeglasses, contact lenses, hearing aids, braces, crutches, wheelchairs, and guide dogs, including the cost of maintaining them.
