I gave birth to twins in March 2016. My health plan required that I pay towards the deductible. I went to the high risk clinic every week and then twice a week for the duration of my pregnancy. I traveled about 20 minutes each direction. What can I deduct? In addition I have other kids that visited the Dr. during 2016. One visit / procedure cost approximately $3000 per child, which I pay on a payment plan. Not sure if / what I can deduct.
You can deduct all your medical expenses that you paid in 2016. It includes your/your children/ your husband's (if applicable) doctor visits, clinic visits, all procedures and your round trip mileage to clinics/doctors/medical procedures.
The fact that you are paying through a payment plan is still considered paid by you.
Note: If you happen to have any dental expenses, they are deductible as well (for you, kids and spouse). For a list of all deductible medical expenses, please click here.
