Property Taxes

When providing my address with TurboTax I use an address outside my state of residence for mail collection purposes (this state has no state taxes).  When I input property taxes into TurboTax for my state of residence that has a state tax, I get no deduction.  How do I tell turbotax that the property taxes are for VA and not TX?

Remember there is a limitation on the amount of property tax deduction you can take in your schedule A aka State and Local Tax Limitation (SALT) as par the new Tax Cut and Jobs Act (TCJA). If you are forced to take the standard deduction, then your total schedule A itemized deduction is less than your standard deduction. And the $10,000 limit you have on property tax deduction could be the reason why.

I have a problem here were it shows that the property tax I paid is double than what I put in- under the review page- but when I go to the actual form it shows it correct???

I also made sure that under other deductions -"home office I checked  the box that the property tax is listed else where.."

any clue why it shows it double on the review page?

Did you possibly report the property taxes from your Mortgage Interest Expense Statement, Form 1098?

From the left menu>Federal>Deductions & Credits>Your Home>Mortgage Interest Expense Statement (form 1098) click Edit
