RE: medical expenses. My daughter got braces in 2016. The total cost is 6000, my insurance paid $1250, I paid a $1500 down payment & have a payment plan for the rest

Do I consider the total cost of the braces in my expenses for 2016? Or just what I actually paid in 2016

You should deduct only the expenses that you paid during 2016.
