Recovery Rebate Credit

I'm completing 2020 filing on behalf of my father who died January 11, 2020. TurboTax continues to calculate that he is eligible for a $1800 Recovery Rebate Credit. He "qualifies" since his 2020 earnings were small, and since there were no economic stimulus checks paid to him in 2020.

I'm certain that this shouldn't be the case, right? There can't be intention to pay the stimulus to the estates of individuals who lived only 11 days in 2020, can there?

Wondering how to override TurboTax to remove this tax credit

Recovery rebate credits may be claimed for individuals who died in 2020 or 2021 when filing the decedent's 2020 tax return. This includes someone who filed joint tax returns with a spouse who died in 2020 or 2021.  According to the IRS:

“Generally, you are eligible to claim the recovery rebate credit if in 2020 you were a U.S. citizen or U.S. resident alien, weren’t a dependent of another taxpayer, and have a valid Social Security number. This includes someone who died in 2020, if you are preparing a return for that person.”

Moreover, if the IRS didn't want deceased taxpayers to get the credit, they would have incorporated that into the 2020 tax forms.  I would not attempt to remove the credit.
