Had similar problem on 2021, had to file 1040x. When reporting interest charged on mortgage 1098 and checking box for cash-out difference, adjusted amount does not carry over to the schedule A total.
The IRS does not receive worksheets, only the sch A. Since you know the correct numbers, you can enter them in directly as mortgage interest and mark that no adjustments are necessary.
