Question

Regarding PCS moving expenses, besides shipping my pet, are any other pet-related expenses tax deductible?

For example, in order to move to Hawaii, specific vaccines, a rabies titer test and health certificate were required. We purchased a pet carrier, sedatives for travel and paid the Department of Agriculture for his release. Are any of these expenses deductible as well?

It depends but if you have to relocate because of a PCS, nearly any ordinary and necessary moving out-of-pocket expense that is not reimbursed by the government is deductible. So if it was necessary to get a pet carrier, sedatives and release forms for the move, then you would be able to include these expenses as part of your moving expenses. Just remember to keep a record of your deductible moving expenses with your tax files for future reference.
