Hello, I rented out a house for 3 years and found black mold on kitchen subfloor and wall after the lease ended. I live in the house now. It did not cover by homeowner insurance. I ended up paying a lot of money including removing floor material, mov cabinets, black mold treatment, replacing subfloor, moving back cabinets, new flooring. Molding specialist ended up tossing partial of existing laminate countertop, so I had to order the whole countertop with upgraded material. Can I deduct partial of countertop cost as well as other repair costs?

Thank you,

No, first, this is not a repair, it is a major improvement. This is added to the basis of the home. Second, even if it were a repair, it was when it was a personal home, not a rental property. Again, this would cause it to be added to the basis of the property.
