Adding a 30 dollar credit should not make my taxes go from simple to complicated. It filed free last year. And the year before .

Filed as Simple with Chime this year since intuit is scamming. Other tax companies are more transparent and truthful.

The retirement credit will trigger an upgrade to paid version the software. You can trick the software out of giving you the credit by saying in MY INFO that you were a student and stay in the Free Edition.

Or—-Use this IRS site for other ways to file for free. There are 8 free software versions available from the IRS Free File site
