Should I enter a name or a text id number by the charity donations?

    You need to enter a description that sufficiently identifies the donation so that you can look it up in your records to find it.

     

    The IRS does not want all the possible data you have, but they do want you to be able to provide documentation for tax return entries if they question you by letter or in an audit. So if you have entries with the same description, you need to mark them so that you know which donation it was.
