Question

Should my earned income credit be added to my federal tax return total? Because it didnt show?

it says my total is 279.00 but then said i had a 314.00 earned income credit

Yes, your Earned Income Credit is added to your federal tax return.  If you owed something or had tax due before the credit, then the credit would reduce what you owed down to zero then the rest would be refunded.  

 

You can look at line 27a of your 1040 to verify that you received the full EIC. To see your 1040 select the following:

 

  • Tax Tools
  • Tools
  • View Tax Summary
  • Preview My 1040
