Spousal Maintenance paid in arrears

Hello-

 

I was divorced in 2018 so alimony is deductible for me.

 

My question is:  I fell behind on payments in 2019 but paid them all back in 2020.  Can I deduct what I paid in 2020 even though it was for 2019 maintenance?

    If you pay deductible alimony, it is deductible in the year in which you pay it, even if you are paying it late.
