Tax Year Prior to 2020: 1095-A

Turbo Tax asks for info from Form 1095-A.  My primary medical insurer is Medicare.  Medicare customer service reps report that Medicare does not issue 1095-A's, that the Program issued 1095-B's in previous years but no longer.  How do I get past this issue?

Since you do not have a Form 1095-A, there is nothing for you to enter.  Just continue past this section.

To enter your Form 1095-A -

  • Click on Federal Taxes (Personal using Home and Business)
  • Click on Deductions and Credits
  • Click on I'll choose what I work on (if shown)
  • Scroll down to Medical

Why wasn't I told I needed to do A1095 when I was going through the filing through this system. Received a letter  I needed to fill it out did so and now my taxes are reduced by $500. I relied on you people to do my taxes properly. I did not know how to fill this form out properly did not get any help. And I believe that's the consequences of my tax return being reduced by $500. I will never use Turbo tax again.

Then you try to get someone on the phone to discuss the situation and all  You have is the option of typing in questions.

You can add the Form 8962 to your tax return by adding the  information from your 1095-A.

  1. Scroll down to Your tax return & documents, select 2019 and then Add a State.
  2. Select the Federal from the left side menu.
  3. Click on Deductions & Credits near the top center of the screen.
  4. Find Medical on the list. If you don't see it, click on See all tax breaks at the bottom.
  5. Click on Show more to the right of Medical
  6. Find Affordable Care Act (Form 1095-A) on the short list, click Start on the right.
  7. Enter your information.

This will add your 1095-A information to your tax return and will generate a Form 8962. To print your 8962:

  1. Click on Tax Tools.
  2. Select Print Center.
  3. Click on Print, save or preview this years return.
  4. Select Form 8962 and print the form.

To get your refund as soon as possible, follow the directions in the letter. Typically they will say not to amend return, but just to complete Form 8962 and fax or mail it to them with a copy of your Form 1095-A.

how do i get 1095b form

March 20, 2020

The 1095-B is mailed to you by your insurance company. Note, however, that you do not need to enter it into TurboTax.

So when you receive it, just stick it into your tax files.

Hello my taxes keep being rejected by the form 1095-a. I recently called the marketplace & they claimed I do not have a form at all. How do I fix this? It keeps looping back to the same questions

We have a 1095-B rather than the 1095-A that TT wants, any suggestions?

Since you have a Form 1095-B and not a Form 1095-A then say No when asked if you have 1095-A.

A Form 1095-B is not entered on a tax return.  Only the 1095-A is entered.

I made a mistake and said I did have a 1095-A when in reality I received a 1095-B. I have now deleted that 1095-A and answered No to the question if I received the form. However, when I go back in and see if my No answer in maintained the TT always changes it to yes and I continually change it back. How do I prevent the system from changing my answer? The next screen is troubling in that it indicates my refund will be delayed because I don't have the 1095-A information to enter.

If you had health insurance through one of the state Marketplace Exchanges then you should have recieved a Form 1095-A.  Go to this healtcare.gov website for a 1095-A - https://www.healthcare.gov/tax-form-1095/

Otherwise if you did NOT have Marketplace Insurance then you do not complete the Form 1095-A in the TurboTax program.

Want to know everyday I check to see if my taxes is ready but it telling me that it’s still being processing but I still need to send my 1095 how can I do that

If you purchased insurance through the marketplace and received a 1095-A, that must still be reported on your return. This will calculate the Net Premium Tax Credit on Form 8962. This form reconciles the amount of the credit available to you with the amount already received as an Advance Premium Tax Credit. The result could be additional credit owed to you, or you may have to repay any amount already received in advance. Because of either of these results, it is important for taxpayers to include the information from Form 1095-A on their return.

Follow these steps:

  • Click on Deductions & Credits under Federal
  • Under the menu for Medical, click Start/Revisit next to Affordable Care Act (Form 1095-A)
  • Answer Yes indicating that you have the form to enter
  • Complete the information on the next screen to match your form and click continue

TURBO TAX IS WANTING ME TO ENTER A 1095-A I HAVE ONLY 1095-B. HOW DO I FIX THIS.

March 18, 2021

I can not get past the request for tax form 1095-A. My primary health care coverage is medicare. What do I do?

March 18, 2021

If you bought health insurance through one of the Health Care Exchanges, also known as Marketplaces, you should receive a Form 1095-A.

If that does not apply to you, revisit the Medical section to make sure you didn't accidentally check that you received form 1095-A.

  1. Log in to your account.
  2. Go to Federal Taxes.
  3. Go to Deductions and Credit.
  4. Scroll down to Medical and click show more.
  5. Go to Affordable Care Act (Form 1095-A).
  6. Answer No to the question " Did you receive Form 1099-A for your Health Insurance plan"
