Question

The state Smart Check is saying that I shouldn't have a value in for 760py, and I don't. How do I bypass it to file my state taxes?

Form 760py is the part-year resident tax return for Virginia. If you are a full-year resident of Virginia, then you need to see if you are filing the correct return. You will see an option for this when you start the state program for Virginia in TurboTax. If you are a full-year resident and it says that when you start the state program, you can try deleting the form 760py and that may resolve your issue as follows:

  1. Click on Tax Tools in the left menu bar
  2. Click on Tools
  3. Look under Other Helpful Links and choose Delete a form

Look for form 760py and delete it.

I am having the same issue. I selected that I was A full time va resident and I looked for the form to delete but only saw form 760, not 760py. Yet it keeps telling me I shouldn’t have anything, and I don't. Any ideas?
