Question

This site and app keep wanting me to upgrade because I "have a foreign investment listed." I've gone back thru and specifically answered "no" to those questions.

I have tried to go back and save and then click the back button to confirm the changes are saved and they show saved, but by the time I get back to the screen to submit I get the same error. I have also tried on the app and have the same problem

Yes, you may get the message to upgrade if you have foreign tax paid on Form 1099-DIV in box 7 as well as answering yes to the questions about foreign assets.

Any amount in box 7 of Form 1099-DIV will qualify you for the foreign tax credit, which isn't included in the Free Edition. If you have an entry there, you can remove it because it's not income, it's a credit.
