Question

Trying to file taxes electronically and it keeps saying there is a problem with calculations on the Earned Income Credit form. We have no dependents thus no EIC. Help!!

I don't know the error is but you can get the EIC without having dependents.

If you are under 25 or over 65 you have to have a qualifying child to get the EIC credit.

 

You can qualify for the EIC without a qualifying child if you are at least age 25 but under age 65 and your earned income and AGI are both less than the lowest amounts on the table which for 2018 is $15,270 ($20,950 married filing jointly).
