Turbotax freefile 2020 would not let me use my 2019 earned income for the eic. now i need to amend, but cant reach a person!

Please be aware, you were only able to use your 2019 earned income instead of your 2020 income to compute the Earned Income Tax Credit (EIC) if your 2019 earned income was more than your 2020 earned income. If your 2020 income was more than your 2019 income then you cannot use your 2019 income to calculate the EIC.

If your 2019 income was more than your 2020 income then please see How do I amend my 2020 return? and follow these steps in your 2020 amended return:

1. Click on the "Search" on the top right and type "EIC"
2. Click on “Jump to EIC”
3. Answer the questions until you reach the screen "Do you want to use last year’s earned income?"
4. Click "Yes", enter your "2019 Earned Income" if the field is blank, and click "Continue".
