Question

TurboTax will not let me itemize for state (MT) if I use the standard deduction for federal, even if I add deduction items to federal. Is there a way to do this?

MT allows you to itemize. MT instructions page 26 has the details. Everything that can be entered in the federal section should be. The program should be choosing your deduction rather than you selecting or forcing the program for federal. As you go through MT program, it goes through all the itemized deductions available, you need to go through those. Is it possible you don't have enough to itemize?
