Question

turbotax won't accept first-time homeowners repayment data

My e-file federal taxes were rejected because turbotax refuses to accept first-time homeowner repayment on Schedule 2.

Turbotax keeps changing from “yes, but the home we received the credit for stopped being our main home on or before December 31, 2022” to the third answer: “no, we never got this credit.”

Without this reporting on schedule 2, my e-file taxes continue to be rejected.

The reason it's rejecting it is because you are telling it you don't own the home anymore.  When you sold the home you were supposed to pay back the balance owed on the first time homebuyers credit.  Select that you still own the home and it will allow you to make the payment.
