Certain cities within TX charge personal property tax on leased vehicles for personal use.  However, TX is not on your list of states that allow deduction for that - perhaps becuase TX does not have state income tax.  Am I able to deduct the amount on my federal return?

Whether or not the state imposes an income tax is irrelevant to the issue of whether or not a personal property tax is deductible on the federal return.

Yes, you can deduct the personal property tax on your Itemized Deductions, Schedule A.

Can you tell us which part of the deductions interview you were in and the title of the screen when you saw this pulldown menu that did not include Texas?
