Question

Using Turbo Tax to start my 2024 tax return. I am unable to put in the town tax for my home. Why? When I started TT it ran an update so local taxes should be loadable.

IF you are using the Desktop software?

    Two Possible things:

    1)  If Windows computer...Close TTX, and then rt-click on the startup icon and click on "Run as Administrator", and try again.

    or

    2)   IF you see a $0 in the field you are attempting to enter those property taxes......

Whenever you see that "$0" (an actual zero)...then a "Supporting Details" sheet is attached to that entry, usually transferred in from last year, but after the actual $$ entries were stripped out.

Try double-clicking on the field to get the Supporting details sheet to show up.

    or

Put your cursor in the box, and then go to the top menu on the screen and click on <Edit....then <<Add Supporting Details from the drop-down menu. IF the SuppDet box shows up you can either add your entry in there...or hit the Red "X" to delete the whole SuppDet worksheet and then make your normal entry.
