Verifying Income for Employer that did omitted me a part of their annual taxes

Good Day!

I called State of California's Franchise Tax Board recently because I received a notice in the mail informing me of a tax refund/credit owed to myself.

The operator informed me to verify income for the 2022 tax year. It was discovered one of my employers omitted me from their tax filings, creating a gap of unverified income.

What's my best course of action here in this situation? It's very odd because it makes my tax filings faulty as a result.

Thanks in advance!

Start by getting your IRS transcript so you can get most of the W-2 information.   Contact your prior employer to request your 2022 W-2.   If you happen to have a pay stub that will help too.   Request your W-2 for CA from the Franchise Tax Board.

Get IRS transcript

Once you have the W-2 you will need to amend your 2022 tax returns.   If you used TurboTax here are instructions to get to your 2022 tax returns:  Find prior years returns in TurboTax

If you did not use TurboTax here is a link to get TurboTax for 2022:  TurboTax past years software
