Question

We purchased our home with no mortgage. We've never received any homebuyer benefit because all tax forms require a mortgage statement. What do we do?

Each time we file, we are prompted with the question of whether or not we ever received a homebuyer benefit and we respond "No" because we did not.  However, that requires a 1098 or other proof of mortgage which we don't have because we purchased the home outright.  Help?

TurboTax will keep asking you about potential tax breaks for owning a home - we want to make sure you are not missing any deductions.

You still have the option of deducting property taxes, if you itemize deductions.

Enter them in the Property (Real Estate) Taxes interview. You don't need to have a 1098 Mortgage Interest form to report property taxes.
