We replaced the roof in our primary residence, does it qualify as a deduction?

In general, no, it does not.

If you have an office in your home or rent part of your home, then a portion of the roof replacement can be depreciated as an Asset under Schedule C or Schedule E.

but cost of the roof does add to your cost basis.
