If you are making your mortgage payments to an individual rather than a bank or mortgage company: 

  • You will enter the name of the person that holds the mortgage.  Continue, and you’ll see a screen Do any of these uncommon situations apply to your loan with (person’s name)? See the screenshot below.
  • Check The seller is financing this loan and we didn't receive a 1098.

  • Next, you enter the name, address, and Social Security number of the seller.
  • Next, you’ll enter the mortgage interest paid, outstanding mortgage principal as of 1/1/2016, and mortgage origination date.
