Membership dues and home office expenses are valid job related expenses. The IRS lists the following items as examples of expenses that can be included in the employee expense category.

Expenses that qualify for an itemized deduction generally include:

Business travel away from home
Business use of your car
Business meals and entertainment
Travel
Use of your home
Education
Supplies
Tools
Miscellaneous expenses
