When entering home office expenses , it asks for entire home expenses as well .. wouldnt those numbers be the same ??

No. Don't duplicate your expenses. There are two sections for home office expenses—home office only and entire home.

 

Home office expenses are those for the home office only and are deducted 100%, For example if you remodeled your home office, enter those expenses here.

 

Expenses for the entire home are multiplied by your home office percentage. Enter your common expenses, e.g. mortgage interest, property taxes, hazard insurance and utilities in the entire home section. You can deduct the percentage in proportion to the size of your office.
