Question

When I entered the mortgage interest on a second home, my Federal taxes due increased. Do I have to enter the second 1098 or can I omit it since it does not lower taxes?

You should enter all of the 1098s.

You can identify the 1098s as Primary and Second Home in the interview.

    Under Federal

    1. Select Deductions and Credits
    2. Scroll to Mortgage Interest and Refinancing (Form 1098) - [Add/Edit]
    3. Select the 1098 you want to change, or Add a new 1098
    4. Follow the interview and post the details from your 1098
    5. Follow the interview to the question What kind of property is this loan for?
    6. Select the appropriate option
    7. Complete the interview
