Where do I enter the STAR amount received in order to reduce the NY real estate taxes itemized deduction?

You will have the opportunity to enter your STAR credit as you proceed through your state return. After completing your New York Adjustments, you will enter the credits section. The first screen Tell us if you received one of these New York tax breaks in 2021 allows you to enter the STAR credit you received.

If you missed it the first time around and you're in the You Just Finished Your New York Return screen, you can select Update next to Credits and Other Taxes and then Update / Start next to Property Tax Relief or STAR Credit and IT-119.
