Where do you find the foreign country information on a K-1 form?

    The information should be reflected in box 16 Foreign Transaction on the K-1 or any separate related statement.  For instructions and discussions, click here: foreign country / countries  You might need to contact the corporation or partnership to obtain that info.  

     

    If you have paid taxes to both foreign and the US tax authorities, the IRS allows you to claim a foreign tax credit on your US tax return.  To claim this foreign tax credit, you would need to file a Form 1116 Foreign Tax Credit.  After entering the info correctly, the amount should show on Schedule 3 line 1 and line 20 on Form 1040.
