Why can't I claim my home office as a deduction in 2020?

It depends   If you're claiming it as business expense, then you could claim the deduction and is being reported on Schedule C form.  Otherwise, you can't claim your home office expense as deduction on your 2020 Schedule A Itemized as it was suspended due to Tax Cuts and Jobs Acts signed into law in 2018.

If you are a  W-2 employee you cannot deduct job-related expenses on your federal return.  Your state tax laws might be different.
