Question

Why doesn't my son qualify for child tax credit? I only made $800 last year and they didn't take taxes out for federal or state.

To be eligible to claim the Child Tax Credit you must have earned income from work of at least $2,500.

If your taxable income in 2024 was only $800 there is no need for you to file a 2024 tax return.

You did not make enough to get CTC.   If your only income for the whole year was $800, is there someone else who can claim you and your child as dependents?
