Why i am just receiving $1000 child credit if i have 2 kids?

Many reasons this could happen.

To claim the Child Tax Credit

  • Your dependent must be under 17 years of age on the last day of the year
  • The Child Tax Credit cannot be used to reduce your tax liability below zero (cannot exceed taxes owed)
  • Also, the Child Tax Credit is reduced by $50 for every $1,000 that your Adjusted Gross Income exceeds $110,000

Go back to the personal info tab and edit the dependents and check all your entries for them, especially dependent type. Check the child’s Social Security number, date of birth, and designate that the child lived with you for over six months (if true).
