Did you enter anything in the healthcare section to do with healthcare premiums and advanced premium tax credits, etc. such as from a Form 1095-A?

thanks for the reply, yes, but not sure why this came up under medical expenses. That was in a different section..and amounts were different ..

I know that any excess premiums you paid that were not offset by premium tax credit are still deductible as a medical expense.  It flows to Schedule A.  As well as any advanced premium tax credit you had to pay back (if any), which also flows to Schedule A medical expenses.

Are you using the online or desktop version?  In the desktop version, it's easier to follow the flow with the forms.

Desktop version is the CD/download software to install on one's computer as opposed to using the online website version.  It is more fully-featured and has Forms Mode where one can directly view forms during preparation, even edit when necessary.  And it has a feature called "data source" to see where figures came from.

You're welcome.  Hopefully that explains it.  Be sure to print and review your return prior to filing.

BTW, you can pay in advance if you want to have viewing/printing privileges during return preparation.  We can tell you how.

There is a negative side to paying in advance, however.   If you ever want to clear the return and start over, you can't do that if you've already paid.   You can't clear a paid-for return.
