Why is TurboTax doubling my adoption credit?

TurboTax is doubling my adoption credit. I can't figure out why.
I have $3250 in adoption expenses. TurboTax shows the expenses as alive entered them, but lists the credit as $6500.
Ive tried deleting and reentering with no success.

It depends on how it is listed on Schedule 3 Line 6C. Let's verify the amount.

  1. Go to tax tools>tools
  2. View Tax Summary
  3. Go to Preview My 1040
  4. Scroll down to Schedule 3 and look on Line 6C. If $3250 is listed, then Turbo Tax calculated this correctly.
  5. I tested out my Turbo Tax Self-Employed online version program and the program seems to be working correctly.

Error on my part. I was under the impression it was asking for my total adoption expenses, and then asking to itemize.

When in fact it was asking for total 2020 expenses, and then showing a screen to itemize 2021 expense, so I was doubling them.
