Why is TurboTax is changing the amount I am entering for child care payments?

I am entering payments for 2 children. After entering both, Turbo Tax reduces the amount I entered for both children. If I delete one child, it changes the remaining child back to what I entered but when I enter the second child again it reduces them both again

TurboTax is not reducing the amount that you entered. It's limiting the total amount that you can use to claim the credit. The maximum amount you can claim for two children is $6,000. Is the total that you paid for the two children more than that?

Do you have a dependent care FSA at your job? That would also reduce the maximum amount that you can claim, because the FSA benefit is already tax-free.
