Why isn't TT transfering the mortgage interest that I entered to the Schedule A?

I have plenty of deductions such that TT is using itemized deductions not standard deduction.  I inputted the mortgage interest in the Q&A portion, but it's just not getting through the whole process.

It has to do with how you answer the questions. Mortgage interest is only deductible when used to buy, build, or improve your home.

    Review your answers and check:

    1. the secured by a property of mine
    2. careful when selecting:
      • yes used the loan only on the home I took it out on or
      • No, I used some of all on something different. Enter the amount used for the house.

Thanks very much for your response. I thought I checked this over and entered it all correctly several times but nothing changed. This was prior to my posting the question.  Also prior, I just inputted the amount directly on the form.  I’m wondering if a link was broken. TT later updated but I’m afraid to delete what I entered manually on the form in case I’m unable to if it’s still broken (if that was the issue).

We have had a lot of software updates. Keep updating your program.

If you entered it in forms mode, you should be able to go through the entries in step-by-step, verifying they exist there. Then, if there is an override involved, you should be able to remove it in the Forms mode. The program will hold the information.

If nothing had to be overridden, you should be good to go!
